The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team ‘The Red Arrows’ were due to display over Queen Mary 2 in Southampton Docks as part of Cunard Lines 175th anniversary.
Sadly the display had to be cancelled due to bad weather, firstly at Bournemouth Hurn Airport where the Red Arrows were flying from and then when they finally got airborne sea fog over the Solent forced them back to base at Scampton in Lincolnshire.
This is the third time in three years that a Red Arrows display over Southampton Water has been cancelled due to poor weather. Typically there was fine weather a couple of hours later when Queen Mary 2 left for her short voyage to Liverpool before leaving for New York on Saturday evening recreating 175 years to the day, the very first passenger ship that set sail from Liverpool to Boston in 1840.
