Description

We will visit locations including the beach at Lepe, famous as a major departure point for the D-Day landings, the former flying boat base at Calshot, the historic Hythe Pier and Beaulieu River as well as the river Blackwater and Mogshade Pond, Eyeworth Pond, Milford on Sea, Hurst Spit, Lighthouse and Castle, Keyhaven and Barton on Sea.

The favoured location to shoot the sunset at the end of the day is Hatchet Pond near Beaulieu, weather permitting!

In addition to visiting stunning locations we will cover the following topics to improve your images and the enjoyment of your photography – composition, how to read light, the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO, hyper focal distance, depth of field, shooting RAW, the histogram and many more.

This workshop course will last approximately 8 hours and can be run on an individual 1 to 1 basis or as a small group of up to 3 participants if you have friends or relatives who would like to join you. The small size of the group allows me to provide personalised tuition and advice based on your experience and requirements and also to maximise the potential of each location without overcrowding.

A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is a fair amount of walking on forest paths and beaches at some locations.

Final locations will be selected according to the prevailing weather conditions on the day.

Ideally you will have a digital SLR or compact system/mirrorless camera with a wide angle and a standard to medium telephoto zoom (or prime) lenses, plus a tripod. Filters including a polariser would be useful and solid neutral density (ND) filters are essential if you wish to capture long exposures. If you have a FujiFilm X series compact system camera I can show you the many less obvious features that make this a great landscape photography tool.

All tuition, advice and travel (to and from the photo locations) is included.

What isn’t included;
Travel to and from the New Forest, personal travel insurance, protective clothing (especially wellingtons!), meals and refreshments (please bring a packed lunch), camera equipment inc. tripods.
